Upskilling an in-house insights team to build a massive data repository and formalise research practices

Pharmaceutical company

Pharmaceutical company

Need

This client had collected massive amounts of qualitative consumer data, with the ambition of collating these into a joint repository for future analysis. An in-house team of qualitative researchers needed to establish common ways of working to facilitate principled archiving, tagging, and analysis of data over time.

Solution

Using our signature principled approach to mixed-methods research, we helped the team build a structured data taxonomy along with a collaborative codebook. This enabled efficient integration of historical data and provided the team with an improved foundation for serving inquiries from the rest of the organisation. To future-proof the repository, we established principles for collaboration, governance, maintenance, and continuous refinement of the data taxonomy.

Process

The process involved close co-creation with the client: workshop sessions, masterclasses, pilot testing, and iteration.
